We hand forged a gorgeous halo with a mini donut for this gem. The "mini donut" is actually called a finger rest - it's the part under the halo that sits on your finger.

Wow! I love the way it looks.

We took no steps to increase the color in the setting- other than the 18kt yellow gold prongs. The bottom of the stone is totally exposed. I prefer to see the natural color of the light yellow diamond.

The small donut also creates a steeper angle on the struts, which lowers the top of the ring. Such a large stone, yet the profile is pleasingly low.

Shopping for rectangular diamonds poses a few challenges.

Most rough produces round or squarish stones.

That's why Rectangular cushions are rarer than square stones.

Then it's more difficult to get an even sparkle in a rectangle.

This stone passes that test with stars!

So as you can imagine, I was thrilled when my cutter showed me the diamond.
