This is a well cut an example of a tall emerald cut as you will find anywhere.

Of course, there are Earth Mined diamonds cut as well as this, but they are exceptionally rare. The reason is that cutters of natural diamonds are forced to cut the stone deeper, to save weight. They could have left more "fat" on the bottom of this diamond and come out to 5.50. Since diamonds are sold by weight, you can see the reason to save weight.

With Lab Grown rough, the cost is much less, and so is that temptation. In this case, the shape of the pavilion (bottom) of the stone creates the perfect angles to encourage fire, and well defined, super bright flashes. The 5.03 stone I used for comparison- besides the obvious size difference (visually, it's much greater than the 0.21cts separating them)- just look at the difference in how many steps are apparent. The 5.24ct lights up, as if it were plugged into the wall. The 5.03 is, I'm sorry - dull. The comparison stone was graded Excellent in both Polish and Symmetry.
