5.25ct Red Cushion Cut Spinel
This is a gorgeous red natural spinel. Spinel is not all that well known, but it is quite beautiful. Spinel possesses excellent dispersion which produces beautiful fire and sparkle. The stone is quite hard, it's scores an 8 on the Mohs scale.
This stone is especially rare for a number of reasons. First of all, it is from Burma. Today, Burma is known as Myanmar. secondly, GRS lab confirms that there is no indication of heating. Third, and probably most important… The stone is absolutely drop dead gorgeous in person. It's cut in a way that broadcasts the color and there is no obvious windowing.
It's by no means a cheap stone – but it is truly a world-class gem.
