.70ct Fancy Brownish Greenish Yellow Chameleon SI2 Pear Brilliant Diamond
This is a truly well cut, Pear Brilliant diamond. The body color is a greenish, brownish yellow. The combination of the hues is captivating.
Basically, it's cut just like you'd cut a D color. This is not true for most fancy colors. In Cushion, Radiant, and Round fancy colors, the cut is modified to bring out the color best. Since this stone is cut like a colorless, there are a lot of bright flashes, along with the inherent color of the diamond. The facets in the middle of the stone are largest, therefore produce the largest bright reflections. The result is a lovely mix of colored and white reflections.
GIA graded the diamond SI2 due to a feather, and a few crystals. I did not see the feather when we submitted the stone to GIA, but I did see the crystals. Based on that I was sure the stone would get a VS2. When the report came back, and I re-examined the stone, I found the feather that caused the grade. It is on the bottom of the stone and totally hidden unless you were looking for it. To be fair, I was not examining the stone in the same way I would if we were publishing a grade - just a quick assessment. In any event, the stone is totally eye clean. It's a chameleon, which is a huge plus.
Perfect for a ring or a pendant, either of which we'd be happy to design and execute for you.
