More details about the center stone
Here is a fantastic example of an eye clean, I1 diamond.
We purchased the diamond without a GIA report, and submitted it. I was not surprised, or disappointed with the results. I knew GIA would grade the stone, I1 in clarity.
The reason, is a super faint feather, near the edge at around 11 o'clock. In addition, a very small, very faint feather on the right side of the table. I can make both of these characteristics out in the photos, however it's quite difficult to see them. In person, and without a loupe, forget it.
Remember, clarity grading is not based on the visibility of imperfection, rather the presence of imperfection. In this case, the imperfection is there, and the size is significant enough to cause the I1 grade – however, the faint nature of the feathers, and the placement, mean that there is virtually no impact on the overall brilliance of the diamond. Feathers of this nature also have no impact whatsoever on the durability of the diamond.
Having said all that, as we're looking at a diamond that does not show imperfections, what else do we see? A phenomenal make! The stone has a beautiful, organic teardrop shape. It is great size for the weight and every centimeter of the stone is bright. The cut is classic Pear Brilliant. This results in tremendous sparkle, however, the larger facets in the center of the diamond result in larger reflections in that area. This is also known as a bowtie. For a Pear-Shaped Diamond lover, this is not a detrimental bowtie.
Given the beautiful cut and low depth, the diamond manages to look like many one carat pear shaped diamonds – or even larger. The color is... well, there is no color – it has been graded E in color.
