.76ct J SI2 Horse Head Diamond
Having as much experience with horse head diamonds as we do qualifies us as expert at this point.
The stones are quite rare in general, yet we come up with them. Cutters think of us due to our reputation.
When we find them, often times they are butt ugly.
That is why I was very excited to find this one - a superb example.
It was brought to us precisely because of our reputation as horse diamond lovers by a private seller.
We purchased the stone - reputedly awarded at an Equine competition in Germany in the '80's
It is an amazing specimen. The detail, and overall shape are as good as they come.
The stone is also quite brilliant and really well cut.
We had our cutter go over it as there was a bit of abrasion after about 30 years of wear.
It looks as brand new now.
We sent the stone to GIA after having it touched up.
It is a great SI2 - the imperfections do not affect the stone's remarkable brilliance.
I honestly expected a higher color grade, but nonetheless, the stone is truly a rare and beautiful specimen.
