Say we were shopping for an G color diamond - that is a diamond priced a lot lower than the D-E-F colors, yet a color that is still so very close to near colorless.

Let's buy a hypothetical G color EGL graded stone. It is a lot less costly than the GIA graded G color stones being advertised. Maybe its a bargain?

Well, we bought that diamond, and sent if off to GIA and the results came back:

GIA L color. That's not a small difference, by any means.

Mind you, we bought the diamond with a high degree of certainty it would get such a grade. However, we have highly skilled diamond graders on staff. We know what the diamond is worth based on the experience gained with many millions of dollars worth of diamonds we purchase each year.

We sent the diamond to GIA because I will not have our clients guessing about grades.

When you think about it - it seems to me as someone who has been working in the diamond trade for many years, sellers need to be up front about the implications of non GIA reports - as opposed to using them for price leverage.

L color is awesome - when it is cut like this.

We will be happy to show you a legitimate G color- but we will not try to convince you this is that stone.

It is a lovely stone and well priced for what it is.
