1.25ct L VS1 Emerald Cut Diamond
A stone like this reminds me of all the reasons that I adore emerald cut diamonds. Of course, it all starts with the cut. In this case - a stately tall, but not too tall, rectangle. The large corners both soften, and accentuate the shape beautifully. They also create large triangles which are excellent for increasing the perception of the steps.
The fact that the stone can do all this, with a total depth of 59.1% is remarkable.
Part of the magic is in the girdle. Many Emerald cuts have thick or extremely thick girdles. The stone can be very well cut and have an extremely thick girdle. However, in this case, you get a 1.25 carat diamond that looks like many 1.60 carat diamonds. The stone is bright through a full range of tilt.
As a VS1, the diamond is totally eye clean.
The L color really saves you a bundle on this diamond. About the color... I know how to recognize color in diamonds. Yet looking at this diamond, the color just does not hit you in the face. In some of the photos the color is quite apparent, in other photos not as much. The same thing is true in real life. If you know that you are color sensitive, this diamond is not for you. If you don't know whether you are you are not, you probably aren't. To give you an idea of the type of choice you have, we happen to have a very nice diamond in D color in the same price range. That particular stone is .85 carats.
This is a great stone for someone who wants a larger stone, really well cut, for more reasonable price.
