.89ct K SI2 Marquise Diamond
Here's a great value in a beautifully cut Marquise Brilliant Cut diamond. I love a grade like K/SI2 to for the value of presents. In this case, the cut of the stone is the first thing you will notice –it is phenomenal. For those of you who don;t like bow ties, don't buy a marquise.
Seriously, as this stone will illustrate, that aspect of the light performance can enhance the beauty of a stone with a tall profile - the key is the blending.
Although it was difficult to capture and pictures, there is no issue whatsoever with the "bowtie". The nature of the cut is that there's a different sort of sparkle in the center of the Stone as compared to the tips. In this case it's the best of all possible worlds for a marquis diamond lover. The sparkly light performance at the points blends nicely into the broader flashes coming form the center of the stone.
NOTE- this is a "Marquise Brilliant" - many Marquise diamonds on the market are "Marquise Modified Brilliant" which uses different techniques to handle the light.
The areas that look slightly darkened in my pictures light up in person. The blend between the center and the tips is perfect. Also, many Marquis lovers will love the 2:1 LxW ratio.
In terms of spread, the diamond looks larger than many one carat stone as you will see. The cut also does a great job of making this diamond look very colorless. It is correctly color graded K by the GIA, but the faceup of the stone is beautifully white owing to this lovely cut.
Although GIA graded the diamond SI2, it is totally eye clean. The imperfections are widely dispersed and totally benign.
