.71ct Fancy Intense Yellow I1 Cushion Cut Diamond Ring
It seems like I have a discussion about clarity – or multiple discussions about clarity every day. The reason is that there is a huge amount of data on the Internet, but not a lot of context for it.
For example, this diamond was graded I1 in clarity by GIA. It is a phenomenal I1- completely eye clean. I doubt you will be able to make out the slight imperfections in these high res unretouched photos.
In this particular case, the imperfections do nothing to mar the incredible brilliance of the diamond – and also nothing to affect its durability.
When I saw the diamond, and I saw the price, I was a bit shocked. Looking closer, I realize quickly why this stone is priced more than many other diamonds graded SI clarity. It is the color. The stone is so close to vivid yellow, that it is actually darker than some vivid yellow diamonds we have seen.
It projects this color in a very pure manner – there is no hint of brown or orange. Just an incredibly pure yellow. Taken on this level, the diamond is actually a bargain – as a vivid yellow could easily be twice the price.
I love the cut – as good size for the weight and brilliance from all quarters.
The Ring
A stone with this good a color and cut deserves a special ring- and that's exactly what we did.
I picked two scrumptious cushions, totally colorless, incredibly well cut - to flank the near vivid center.
Now that she's set- betwixt these remarkable side diamonds, she screams "V-I-V-I-D".
Hand forged top in platinum and 18kt yellow gold. The details are very fine - claw prongs and meticulous polishing.
