This is one of our most asked about styles - we have done it a number of times with a colorless center. This is the first time doing it with a yellow - no big surprise there as the center stone here is incredibly rare.

Now that it is set, the color is unbelievable.

I do not think I have seen natural yellow round diamond look this yellow - it is saturated - amazing in person.

We used a softer shade for the pink and yellow pavé - and I got the effect I was going for.

It is not garish at all - tasteful for sure - but vividly exciting to look at.

Very cool one of a kind ring.

More details about the center stone

When you look at how a round diamond looks in this color, you'd have to ask yourself- why don't cutters cut more like this?

First of all, let's look at the "light mechanics" of a round brilliant diamond. The entire design is aimed at maximizing white light return. That's why a Y-Z cushion is far more yellow face up compared to a Y-Z round diamond.

This brings us to the second point - yield. A cutter's job is to maximize the yield from the rough diamond.

This stone, at .92cts, might have finished to a 1.10ct Cushion cut- and it might have been a Vivid Yellow. What that means is that the cutter of this diamond made a lot of decisions resulting in something incredibly rare.

The resultant diamond, is a very strong Fancy Intense Yellow color- certainly bordering on Fancy Vivid Yellow.

For whatever reason the way this Round Brilliant handles the light seems to intensify the canary color. There's still a lot of flashing spears- but they don't diminish the yellow.

In fact, it's one of the brightest yellow diamonds I've seen.

The cut is gorgeous.

GIA graded it VS2 - and you can even make out the tiny crystal in some of the photos - as well as the video. In the photo below it is at 7:00.

Bottom line- the commitment made by the cutter means that the stone is priced more like a 1ct Vivid Yellow.

In terms of market value, the stone holds up wonderfully well. Given the rarity, and the beauty, it's well worth the price.

Stunning, isn't it?
