1.02ct F SI2 Pear Shape Diamond

The thing about SI2 diamonds is that they are much harder to buy than VS or VVS diamonds. The reason is that about 75% of diamonds graded SI2 by GIA have imperfections that can be seen with the naked eye. Most people don't want that. Plus, it is not possible to use the plot on the GIA report to figure out how the diamond actually looks.

There are cases where that plot looks completely clean, yet the diamond has an easily visible feather or crystal. Then we have SI2 diamonds that look amazing in person, but have a GIA plot that looks like someone used it for target practice. Even pictures don't always help (I'm not including our pictures in this part, but I have noticed on other sites). For example the rotating diamond pictures make assessing clarity next to impossible. That is why we put our asses on the line and actually buy the best SI2 diamonds for our inventory. You won't find our diamonds on any other site. So we wait for the most amazing SI2 diamonds to come along, and we buy them. If I have not mentioned this yet, we love SI2 diamonds because they are priced so much less than VS diamonds.

So anyway, yesterday a cutter walks in with the MOST amazing pear shape. I see the grade - SI2 - but examining the stone with a loupe, and wow, it is so clean! The imperfection is located in a spot that makes it disappear, and there are no black carbon marks whatsoever.

I mean I love the cut. The stone is remarkably bright, and very large for a 1.02ct - almost 9 1/2 mm long - that's big. The diamond was classified as "Pear Brilliant" by GIA, but again, you cannot use these labels to draw conclusions. Many Pear Brilliant diamonds have a Bow Tie - this diamond avoids that look entirely. It's very bright from edge to edge. And the shape- perfect! An organic teardrop. Just so.

The color - again wowzer!! Totally colorless.

So, this may not be the cheapest SI2 on the market, but I can guarantee you won't find a better one, and you will not get any sort of surprise when you open the box.
