Pure green is among the rarest of colors in a diamond. A GIA graded Natural Fancy Intense Green Diamond with no modifiers will cost a fortune.
Even then, an intense Green Diamond's color is less bright than an Intense Yellow.
That's because the color green, in nature, is rarely bright- unless it's mixed with other colors.
The color of this gem is apparent- yet not obvious.
Fancy Colored Diamonds are judged differently than colorless stones- and in the case of assessing the quality of cut on a fancy colored diamond, you need to look at the diamond, as opposed to the numbers and percentages on a GIA report.
Natural Fancy Colored Rough, in desirable colors, is rare. If the rough for this diamond was F color, maybe they'd have cut it differently.
In this case, we have a diamond that's a bit more shallow than typical Cushion Modified Brilliant Diamonds.
You might assume there's a downside to a diamond cut a bit more shallow- but it's an inaccurate assumption.
The cutter didn't purposefully make the stone 61.2%- nature did. He or she used the rough to the maximum advantage.
The stone has sparkle crackling from the entire top. The surface area makes the stone look more like a carat and a third, as opposed to a 1.02
