Let's start with the cut - it's awesome. I adore this cutter's work they replicate antique cuts, with modern precision.

The facets are large - providing plenty of opportunity for fire. The open culet!! Love it! Ooo lala!!

Although the diamond was graded I color, it faces up white. Speaking of grading... the elephant in the room... I2 clarity.

We could use this stone as a test case to show how clarity grading works. The grade is based on the presence of imperfection, as opposed how visible the imperfections are.

Therefore, we can find a VS2 with a spot you can see - or an I2 where the imperfections aren't all that much of a big deal. The way they're spread out minimizes the visual impact.

There's a string of black carbon spots running up one size of the stone.... it reminds me of the Florida Keys... a whole bunch of teeny islands. If you could smoosh them all together, you'd have a nice sized piece of real estate (don't want to give anyone any ideas)

But my point, the string of tiny black carbon points means that none of them are very large at all. If we combined them together, we'd have a huge honking black spot. It would still be an I2, but it would be an I2 with visible imperfections. Someone in their 20's might be able to pick out the carbon, but the stone manages to be eye clean to me.

Antique style pear shapes are rare - this one is a nice value.
