!--R8484--> In many online discussions of diamonds, people are led to believe there's some sort of "ideal" set of proportions. I've always believed that in the case of Fancy Shaped Diamonds, there's no way to say what's "ideal". Who's to say that what's ideal for you is ideal for me?

When I look at a marquise, I'm always more affected by the quality of cut, than the overall shape. That's not to say I don't have preferences when it comes to the model of a marquise ("model" refers to the overall shape of a fancy shaped diamond). A stone like this one, at just shy of 2:1 (1.90:1 to be exact) is classic, in terms of LxW.

But the first thing that hit me was how beautifully the stone handles light. It's so lively! And fire? Yes!

It's a Marquise Brilliant, so the large facets on the middle of the diamond perform differently than the ones at the tips. In a worst case scenario, this can result in a negative "bow tie" effect.

in a case like this one, the larger facets result in more while brilliant flashes in the center - and good opportunities for fire events. The tips have a dazzling beauty of their own.

Although Marquise cuts can sometimes draw color easily, this stone hides the I color- it really looks white.

It's been graded SI1 by GIA based on a variety of clarity characteristics. You may be able to pick them out in the video- or pictures- but no way in real life without a magnifying glass.

So you get a super well cut, great looking colorless stone for a far lower price than a G/VS2.

We can do an awesome job setting this puppy for you too.
