If you're looking at this ring we made five years ago in the "New Jewelry" section of our site, it's because it represents the "new" lab diamond market.
We bought the stone in late 2020. That's when we really got into lab diamonds.
At the time, a stone like this was worth about $3,000. Today?
Well, you're pretty much getting the center diamond for free at this price.
It's a gorgeous platinum ring with a stunning halo of colorless diamonds.
Yes, lab prices fell quite a bit in five years.
In the case of well cut colorless diamonds, vetted by a competent jeweler, we're pretty much at the bottom, price-wise.
This specific stone was a mistake on my part. I'm not afraid to admit it.
IGI graded it SI2, and looking at it today - I disagree. It's an I1.
My outlook on business is to reflect the current reality, as opposed to hanging on to the notion an item is worth what you paid for it, in a changing market. Many of the diamonds I purchased over all these years went up in value after I bought them.
This one went down... a lot.
So I look at it as part of the yin yang of business. You can't win without losing sometimes.
It is what it is my friends:)
Aaaaaanyway, it's a really nice looking diamond in spite of all this. Also a lovely ring.
If you like the pics, I think you'll love the ring in person.
