Cushion Modified Brilliant Cut Diamond.
"Poor Man's Intense Yellow Diamond"
This is obviously taking literary license - people considering this diamond are by no means "poor". The reason colors like this have such a reputation is the incredibly high price of 3carat intense yellow diamonds.
This is an incredibly rich color. Despite the presence of brown, or perhaps because of it, the color is very strong - with yellow the predominant hue. The photos bear this out. We try to show the diamond in as accurate a photo as possible. We use natural lights - as well as a light box specially designed for taking pictures of little things. We have lighter colored and darker colored backgrounds for these light box photos.
The SI2 Clarity also saves you money.
The photo above highlights the main clarity consideration - it is a small cavity. This is not a characteristic which is likely to cause any problem structurally. Likely it will be covered by a prong. The reason the cutter left it was that if they polished away that area, they would have to polish away a lot more of the diamond to even it out - ending up with a two and a half carat diamond.
Considering that this diamond, as is, has great brilliance and size, and the cavity is not a problem of durability (do not forget, the diamond cutting process itself exposes a diamond to incredible stresses, far more than a it will endure in a ring!)
Other than that, the clarity really has little visual impact - the diamond sparkles like crazy.
Bottom line is you are buying a great looking fancy colored diamond - and it is large - for a fraction of the price it looks to the eye.
The Ring
This ring really suits the diamond. Now set, the center stone screams yellow. The shank is nicely rounded. The stone is securely suspended in such a way we can actually get enjoyment viewing it from many angles.
I love the shaped prongs especially when you look at the side view and see that they swoop under the ring in a graceful arc - the same piece of metal forms both prongs!
Notice the exquisite prong work below on the shank.
If you like the ring in these photos, you will love it in person - we guarantee it!
