Light Yellow Diamond Ring 5.27ct W-X VS2 Radiant Cut Diamond Center
Which would you choose?
Let's say, for the purposes of conversation, that the 4.52ct was about $3k more than the 5.27ct.
Both are really nice diamonds. Yet both offer different possibilities.
The 4.52ct offers the pedigree of a GIA "Fancy" grade. The W-X is a W-X. So, there's that.
But you're not going to walk around with the GIA report- and the 5.27 is clearly yellow. The photos give a good representation of the difference in shade.
Both are really well cut diamonds- again different. The 5.27 is what's known as a "spready" diamond. It's got a lot of surface area for it's weight. What do you have to give up- there must be a cost, right?
Most of the time, the answer is yes.
On a shallower stone, you give up some of the even sparkle you like to see in a Fancy Colored Diamond. The image below ( sorry for the poor quality) is an ASET- showing where the diamond is gathering light. It's basically getting an even mix of light from everywhere- blue, red, white, and green, even dispersed. This is an ideal situation in terms of sparkle and liveliness of the diamond.
If you tilt it 45degrees. you can start to see through it a bit- but that happens with pretty much all diamonds.
Anyway, this point you already know the point is moot- we are now the owners - offering you this 5.27ct. It's less costly than the 4.52, and it looks at least 20% larger in surface area.
A great deal IMO.
The Ring
This is an absolutely exquisite hand made ring. Double claw prongs on the center diamond are artful- nothing less. The color of this stone is every bit as attractive to me as a Fancy Vivid Yellow - just different. Both are yellow. In some ways, the lighter yellow is brighter.
This is in no way a "shy " ring. It's huge.
The center stone is not "cupped". The ring is open under the diamond. We need the let this bad boy breathe!
The trapezoidal brilliant side diamonds are colorless, and totally clean to the eye. They too, are remarkable examples of their breed in terms of cut quality. They have amazing sparkle- among the best traps we've seen.
The photos above are ACTUAL Photos of the diamond ring you will receive.
