5.31ct Fancy Light Yellowish Brown SI2 Cushion Cut Diamond

Here's a gem we picked up from a massive Indian Diamond cutter. They did a great job with this stone. Normally, we eliminate a diamond with a depth over 80%, but in this case, the goal of the cut is to produce a bright stone that emphasizes the color. The cutter succeeded mightily with this rock.

I love the light performance on the stone in general. There are lots of large bright reflections, plus nice contrast. The facets are large enough so you can focus on the color. So the depth does not have a negative effect on light performance, in this case. The other consideration with a diamond with an 81.4% depth ratio is "does it look small for the weight?" Are there larger five and a third carat diamonds out there, sure. Still, it's large by any standard. People won't confuse it with a small diamond. Ever.

The color - wow, it's lovely. It is light enough to pick and and reflect many other colors. We all see a bit of rosiness in there. I mean everyone here at the office. I have no idea what GIA might call it, if we send it to GIA, which we have not done so yet, although we might, and I wasn't listening when the teacher was telling the class about run on sentences. In any event if you want a GIA report it's an additional $470.

Wow, this whole listing is a dyslexic's nightmare.

Clarity- I think GIA will give it SI2. You can see the garden in the table in the pictures, but in real life you don't notice them without a magnifying glass. Cool stone! I think it will look amazing set in pink gold.
