1.01ct I VVS2 Cushion Cut Diamond

Here is a beautiful example of a modern brilliant cut diamond. What that means is that you get a plethora of small flashes, as opposed to a chunky look, when you can actually see the facets of the diamond. When the light enters the diamond it bounces around a few times before it exits, and reaches your eye – the effect is truly dazzling. Obviously, the cutter took a lot of care achieving excellent polish and very good symmetry – that's rare for cushion of this nature. VS2 clarity also makes this a very desirable diamond.

The fact that it is and eye color allows such a reasonable price. The photos attest to the fact that the diamond really does look colorless, most of the time. I can see a slight tint and some of the photos. I would say this is my experience in real life, looking at the diamond too.

It is important to remember that when you look at lists of diamonds, or even sites that have one photo of the diamond, it tells you very little. One of the most important facts, is the reason that we have so many photos. It is because we own the diamond – so we have plenty of time to take pictures of it. We take the time to hand select each one of our diamonds, and then we put our money where our mouth is, and we buy it before you do. This is quite different from most other websites where they have a listing of diamonds belonging to other companies.

Once you select one, it is ordered from the company that owns it, generally, a cutter.

It is a very effective system, and also an efficient one. But it does leave a lot of question marks for the buyer. For example, if you search a common item, like a 1.00 G/SI one, for example, you'll come up with thousands of results. Sort them by price lowest first, then sort them by price, highest first – you'll be amazed at the difference between those two numbers. The reason for this is simple. Diamonds are not a commodity in the traditional sense of the word. Not every G/SI is equal in value to the next. The reason is how they look.

With fancy shaped diamonds in particular, we snap up the ones that pass our desk that we think are exceptional – this is one of those diamonds. I'm sure it is not the cheapest one on the market, but it certainly is one of the nicest.
