1.11ct K VS2 Oval Brilliant Diamond
To me, the cut of this oval diamond embodies all that I love in a truly well cut oval diamond. It's not that a bow tie is "bad" in and of itself, although there are plenty of bow ties that cause a darkness that is undesirable.
However, the best ovals have some aspects that relate to bow ties, in a way. Because the stone is an "oval brilliant" as opposed to oval modified brilliant, the size of the facets on the bottom of the diamond are not equal in the middle and at the end. In the oval brilliant design, the bottom of the stone is first cut in quarters, then again to form eight main pavilion facets. You can cut a circle (round diamond) into eight equal pieces, but if you start with an oval the pieces will be different sizes. What this means is that there are different size sparkles coming from the middle of the stone and the ends of the stone.
In the case of this they blend together perfectly. Exactly as you want an Oval Brilliant to fire up! I also love the long tall model – it's a beautiful cut.
As a K color, it's very reasonably priced. I don't feel that the color is a detraction in this stone. You might be able to notice it at times, but at other times not at all.
The brilliance is overwhelming. It's a perfectly Eye clean VS2 Diamond.
