Old diamonds are very popular. Many older stones have been re-cut over the years- in fact, demand outstrips supply. A few select cutters re-create older cuts- some do it very well.
We have our own branded Antique Diamonds - cut to increase perceived body color.
With this stone, the goal was the opposite - to reduce body color. The cutter met that goal- in stunning fashion. The stone is cut to modern precision. It really bounces a lot of light around - even in low lighting.
It is a VVS1 so clearly, clarity is no issue.
You are saving a ton because this stone is a J color. An I color is 22% more - D color is more than double.
In the shots below, taken in a light box, the body color is more evident.
The Ring
This is an amazing piece. The micro pave utilizing single cut diamonds is very special. The effect is dazzling.
The design and workmanship of our "Uber" rings is unsurpassed - anywhere. From any shop. If you like the ring in these photos, you will love it in person - we guarantee it.
The photos above are ACTUAL Photos of the diamond you will receive.
What is a "Single Cut"?
When smaller diamonds were first polished they were even simpler than the Single Cut. The diamond is divided by 8 on top and bottom- with a large flat facet on top called the "table".
Here's the basic facet pattern of a single cut diamond
Looking through the diamond you see something like this
This design is the foundation for every Modern Round Brilliant. Below I've sketched in the additional facet lines that give the Modern Round Brilliant diamond 57 facets, versus 17 for the Single Cut.
Below is a blow up of single cut diamonds in a double halo.
Where is this ring made?
This ring was manufactured in New York City.
To achieve these results, you need a combination of things. A highly skilled workforce is only the starting point. Specialized tools are required. The reason that the parts join together so well is because the parts were designed, and polished using a microscope..
The methods used for welding involve working in as sterile an environment as possible- while focusing acutely on specific areas using a microscope.
