1.62ct M I2 Pear Brilliant Diamond
Here is a totally unique stone which was sitting in the vault of a cutter friend of ours for many years. I graded it I2, so let's get that out of the way. GIA might grade the stone I1. There's only one imperfection, but it's a honker and it reflects about the stone a bit.
Having said that, the stone is charming. The cut is just amazing, and it's HUGE. What I love about the light performance is the glitter. The facets are large, so that you get a ton of flashing on and off - almost like a step cut, but not. All the light play really distracts the eye from the honker. And the HUGE size, did I mention that?
The stone has a lot of color, but yet, it comes across as more like ivory, and sometimes whiter due to the fluorescence. Also the stone is almost 5/8 of an inch long - it looks like many 2 and a half carat stone in terms of visual size.
We're thinking pendant, but then again, maybe a ring.......what do you think?
