The Center
Diamond
I love
buying "on the fringe" diamonds. Why do I categorize this
diamond as "On the fringe"?
Because it's
outside the norm based on the advice given by many jewelry stores.
Many stores
will advise you "Never go below a G color". Sure, that's great for them- except
they are collecting the money- not footing the bill!
It's like
trying to buy a Ford and having a salesman tell you- "Oh , you need to buy a
Rolls Royce- Fords are not good enough".
If you're a
person who wants a D-E or F color diamond, this one is not for you. It's likely you've already shopped-
or have seen diamonds, and know that you can spot a slight tint in a diamond.
And that it bothers you.
I'm going
out on a limb here and say that if you don't know that you are in that group,
you're not part of that group.
Diamond Color Chart
for colorless, and near colorless diamonds
If we held
this K color next to a D color, a percentage of people could see the
difference- and a percentage could not even see the difference. If you don't
hold it next to a D color diamond, the point is moot anyway. As you can see in
these photos, the diamond is incredibly bright, and full of life. K color has no
ill effects on any of that. That part has to do with the cut- which is
phenomenal on this diamond.
We've
discussed the fact that a percentage of people could see a difference in color
between this and a D- I'd estimate the percentage at around 60%. Now, I'd also
venture to say that 100% of the people would see the difference between the
price. A D color will be about 3 times the price of this K color.

ACTUAL Photos and Video of
this remarkable diamond
The stone has also been graded SI2 by GIA. There is a small imperfection in the
center of the stone. In fact, I can see it in these photos, and the video. If
you cant see it, that's a good thing- because you won't be able to see it in
real life either.
There's no black carbon, and nothing about the imperfection affects this
diamond's durability.
Again, why pay for something that you can't see- if this diamond was VS1 instead
of SI2 we'd be looking at another couple grand
The
cut is one of the most important aspects of any diamond, and this one excels in
that category.
On the
subject of cut, we never compromise.
The
Side Diamonds- matching 1.00 Natural Light Yellow Radiant Cuts
We buy
so many natural yellow diamonds that some of the world's largest cutters keep us
in mind. We bought these two natural yellows as part of a large group of stones,
and sent the to GIA ourselves. Both are wonderfully cut, and have a lovely soft
lemon yellow color.
This
is a fully custom made platinum and 18kt yellow ring. The stones are all level-
set low to the finger.
The
shank is built for a lifetime.
