3.07ct K VS1 Emerald Cut Diamond
What is the difference between an Asscher Cut and an Emerald Cut?
Well, since GIA does not classify diamonds as "Asscher cut", it is actually up to each of us to decide.
To me this stone is an emerald cut - although the cutter called it "Asscher"
No matter what you call it, it's gorgeous.
Some heart shapes are more shallow and face up large for their weight. This did not deter me from seeing great value here because of reason 3 - and a good price.
It has strong hints of vintage- to my eye due to corner size and facet placement.
What about the K color - is that a problem?
Not for me its not.
Seriously, there are all kinds of stuff written online talking about how emerald cuts show more color - then other places say it shows less color. To me, it is a pointless debate, because each stone does its own thing. However if I had to fall on one side or the other, I think they show less color.
The stone is VS1 in clarity and perfectly eye clean.
The cut is amazing to me, from a personal perspective.
Admittedly I am prejudiced, as I adore emerald cuts.
EX/VG and it looks like this? A winner in my book.
That K color rears its head when we look at the price. A D color costs almost this much per carat.
