How to choose an Cushion Cut Diamond?
I guess the first thing one needs to do is focus on the aspects of the cut which draws you to it. Here's my list of loves when looking at a Cushion Cut Diamond

*Shape- cushions can vary from looking almost like a round, to a stone like this lovely- almost rectangular

* Sparkle Factor- Some cushions have an "Antique" type of glitter- which can be very nice.

Others have tremendous sparkle- a "Bucket of Crushed Ice"- like this beauty.

Since we currently have 25 cushion diamonds over 1.00 in stock- we look at a lot. We are very picky buyers- rejecting over 90% of all the diamonds offered to us. The broker that showed us this diamond had it as a "pair". The 1.01 K/SI2 is on the right.

I "quotation-ed" the word pair, because I saw too many differences to consider these a pair. Yet, each one looked beautiful in it's own right.

We made a low offer, and bought both. We then sent them off to GIA.

I consider this a really well cut diamond. Great sparkle, and a large appearance for it's 1.01 carats. The SI2 clarity is due to a small cloud area over at the side.

The diamond is totally eye clean- these are quite close up photos.

The Ring

This is a great choice, in my opinion.

In one regard, the cushion is rather....'Old School" in design. This ring respects that.

The grill work is almost...Victorian. Yet the sparkle is totally modern. Fresh and new.

The diamonds are .02 each- which is rather large for micro-setting- they look SMASHING! 41 diamonds with a total weight of 1.84carats, in an amazing micro-set halo.
