Here's a diamond which is akin to "buried treasure". A "brand new" diamond with a 2004 GIA report. When our cutter finished it in 2004, he was absolutely sure he'd get Fancy Intense on the GIA report.
It took years but he finally agreed to sell it to us at a very good price.
Here's why I love this diamond
1) Cut- the cutter might be a stubborn guy, but that's an asset when it comes to cutting diamonds. He is a perfectionist, and this diamond shows the results. The cut is freaking amazing. The diamond has 57.9% depth- meaning, it looks like a 1.60carat, easy. Yet, instead of being shallow, it has a proper crown which gives it amazing sparkle. It's also a great shape for a ring.
2) Color- it's really close to intense yellow- remember the guy who cut this is no fool. It's a borderline diamond. That means it could either be graded "Fancy Intense" and it would be on the lighter side of intense. Or, it could be the darkest Fancy Yellow- which is a lot darker than the lightest diamond GIA would call Fancy Yellow.
The grades are ranges. It is my opinion that in cases of borderline diamonds like this one, where the diamond exhibits Fluorescence, GIA will always go with the stricter of the two grades. Anyway, looks like an intense now that we own it.........heheheh....Of course we're still offering it a Fancy Yellow SI2 price. 3) Clarity- as far as the small black carbon spots deep within the diamond- you simply can't make them out with your eye.
The Ring
Built for the long haul- with comfort placed at the utmost, so you can wear it daily.
Form follows function.
I love love these tapered bullet step cut sides- they make the ring!
