Brown is the least costly of all the "Fancy Colored Diamonds". Why is this?
First is the fact that Brown, as a color, is not as bright as Yellow, for example. Of course brown and yellow are related. Still, in the world of diamonds when you add the word "Brown" to a color, you reduce it's market value.
Fancy Pink= $100k for a one carat desirable specimen
Fancy Brownish Pink=$35k or less
Fancy Pinkish Brown = $7000+/-
Many brown diamonds have imperfections. Sometimes this is not an issue.
As opposed to colorless diamonds, imperfections are much more difficult to see due to the body color. This aspect makes a diamond like this one desirable - as opposed to a colorless diamond with a similar level of imperfection.
Does the brown make the diamond less attractive? That's really up to you. Personally, I think it's a lovely color. but I love weird stuff. I put mustard on hamburgers, for example.
The photos are great for illustrating the imperfections. In person, the color obscures the imperfections most of the time.
Speaking of the imperfection in the diamond, I have pointed out the areas below. In two different lighting scenarios.
The reasons the imperfections do not lessen the desirability (based on the price):
1) None are structural. None break the surface
2) the stone is incredibly well cut- for the color. We get amazing white flashes to highlight this coppery brown color all the time. Bright light or dim.
In terms of cut - it is a bit deep meaning that it spears more like a 2.35, as opposed to a 2.5 - but at this price, it is still a HUGE diamond.
This is a competitively priced diamond - but it is by no means the cheapest - that is not what we look for - we look for the best. I love the "make" of this stone - and its incredible life. Great color as well.
This ring really takes on different colors based on the lighting and time of day. It our more affordable hand forged shop - and they did an amazing job. The claw shape prongs add a special touch to this ring. They are delicate and a work of art in their own right.
There are absolutely no hard edges on this piece. Everything has a very rounded look and feel to it. The shank has a lovely circular profile even where the diamonds are set into it. The diamonds leading up to the halo are a special touch and add even more sparkle from all angles.
If you like the photos, you will love this ring in person - we guarantee it!
